Durant l'été 1960, Marc et Philippe sont moniteurs dans une colonie de vacances en Auvergne. Tout les oppose : le premier se veut viril, tandis que le second se montre beaucoup plus réservé et taciturne. Un malheureux concours de circonstances - Marc surprend Philippe habillé en femme - aidant, le premier soupçonne l'autre d'être homosexuel.
